Connecting systems thinking and stakeholders through design to help sustainability transitions scale
Design translates intangible values into material decisions. This project examined how a specific set of values (french wine heritage, wellness, craft) could be made physically present through spatial and material choices.
As part of the design team, the project mapped the nested relationships between concept, material sourcing, acoustic properties, thermal behaviour, and user perception. The question went about how do technical decisions at the scale of a material sample produce coherent outcomes at for a full sensory experience?
The work produced a material strategy that traced each design decision back to several experiential intents: deeper user engagement, brand coherence, and the elimination of contradiction between what a brand says and what a space makes you feel.
